GPS (Global Positioning System) Uses and Constraint |
GPS Use |
GPS tracking could be used for many different things, the most common uses include: Tracking a vehicle when stolen or getting the location of a vehicle and showing it a route to a chosen destination. Also used to track people for different reasons, such as when a person is lost, could be tracked using their cell phone’s GPS. It is also commonly used to track an asset, to make sure it is going to the right place at the right time. Also the GPS wildlife tracking, where they study the behaviours, movement etc. of animals by implanting a small tracking unit into, or onto the animal. GPS has several other uses.

Constraints |
If people use GPS trackers it can raise a personal privacy concern. The person using the GPS tracker can build a pattern of your typical movements. This could be more harmful in some situations than others, such as the Prime Minister’s movement pattern being studied, also in situations such as children of powerful figures, to perform a kidnapping etc. There are no real remedies to this, as you can use a radio jamming device which would jam the signal frequencies. But this could be harmful as well as it could interfere with signals to vehicles and aircrafts. But if you were using it to study the persons movement over time, it would be of no use to jam it, as it would only work temporarily, because it will store it’s positions in memory and then transmit the data later, as it would only think it lost signal to a satellite.
